We are a Community Interest Company (CIC), a not-for-profit organization created solely to serve the community. This means any income we generate is reinvested into projects that support adults experiencing grief and loss. Like all CICs, we operate under an asset lock, ensuring that if the company ever closes, all remaining assets continue to benefit the community rather than private individuals.
Sunrise After Loss CIC is not a crisis mental health service. We do not replace clinical mental health care. We do not provide emergency or diagnostic services.
Sunrise After Loss CIC was created in response to a quiet but urgent gap; adults grieving during one of the most transitional stages of life, with nowhere age-appropriate to turn.
Grief during adulthood often collides with education pressures, career uncertainty, changing relationships, and identity formation. Many adults fall between bereavement services and adult mental health provision, left to cope alone.
What began as informal peer conversations grew into a clear vision: a community-led organization offering compassionate, age-appropriate bereavement support that feels safe, human, and accessible.
In 2025, Sunrise After Loss CIC was formally established as a Community Interest Company to ensure that no adult must navigate grief in isolation. Our story continues through every individual who finds understanding, connection, and renewed strength after loss.
Sunrise After Loss CIC provides accessible, holistic support for adults aged 18 and above across Dudley and the wider West Midlands.
Our approach combines lived experience, compassion, and evidence-based wellbeing practice to reduce isolation, improve mental health, and foster resilience.
